Girls and parents looking for more than just recreation this summer can build leadership skills, confidence and character at Girls are Great summer program in Lakewood run by the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore.

The Girls are Great program brings the joys of Girl Scouting and Girl Scout camp to the girls of Lakewood Girls benefit from an all-girl environment and organized activities such as sports, swimming, performing arts, and nature and science which increase self-confidence; all while having fun and building friendships.

Attendees do not need to be Girl Scouts; the program is open to all girls who wish to have fun and make life-long memories this summer.

Attendees do not need to be Girl Scouts; the program is open to all girls who wish to have fun and make life-long memories this summer.

This year Girls are Great returns to Georgian Court University. The girl will enjoy all the beautiful campus has to offer. Air conditioned classrooms, theater, sports fields and indoor pool.

The program is in session from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, rain or shine. Free transportation is available. Financial Aid is available to those that qualify.

Lakewood's six-week program is for girls entering grades K through 7 with a new leadership program for girls entering 8th grade.

The girls will enjoy many engaging activities, such as water color, jewelry making,sculpture,adventures in science and conservation, team building and sports.

Girls entering the 8th grade will have an opportunity to enter a leadership program for the first two weeks of the program and help the younger girls as program aids for the remainder of the summer.

Send in the registration form by mail or you can drop it off at our Toms River Service Center on Old Freehold Rd or in person on any of our Sign up dates at the Lakewood Public Library.

• Wednesday May 30th 3-6pm, Thursday June 7th 3-6pm, Saturday June 9th 11-2pm adn Saturday June 16th 11-2pm.

Winter Wonderland: Let's cool down and explore the winter holidays in July!!

 On the High Seas: Water is essential to life and we take it for granted every day. Learn about water and how to conserve it usng a fun Pirate Theme.

Take a Walk on the Wild Side: We will travel the globe, through the eyes of different animals.

Double Dare: Join us if you Dare for a week of fun and Games, ending with our Field Day.

X Factor: A week of exploring our star qualities in preparation for our Art and Talent Show

NEW!! For Girls Entering  6th,7th and 8th Grade

Specialty Camps: Each week older girls can specialize in a theme

Jewlery Making, Art, Musical Theater, Dance, Cooking and Robotics

Space is limited to 20 girls per week see registration form for weeks.

Of course every day we will still have, sports and games, swimming, science and nature, art class and our new feature Performing Arts!
