2008 Women of Achievement

The first Women of Achievement event took place in 1999. Every year since then, the event has honored professionals who serve as exceptional role models for young women in their community.

Barbara, Alice and Pat are no exception. They are each individuals that represent the class and elegance of all women of achievement who live in Southern Ocean County.

Barbara Lanuto
Lacey
Since joining the Lacey-Berkeley Junior Women’s Club in 1981, Lanuto has been a tireless crusader for women’s issues. Her dedication can be seen in her work, not only as the assistant to the director of the Ocean County Consumer Affairs Department and as a commissioner on the Lacey Township Municipal Utilities Authority, but also through her involvement with the Ocean County Status of Women Advisory Committee and the Ocean County Federation of Republican Women.

Alice Miller
Little Egg Harbor
Miller, executive director and founding president of Habitat for Humanity Southern Ocean County remembers to count her blessings every day. “I think it is very important for all of us to share our time and talents with each other, she said. Miller, a former Girl Scout, showed an intense drive at an early age, especially with the annual cookie sale. “I remember selling tons of Girl Scout cookies and then delivering them. I distinctly remember delivering them on my sled one year.” Miller has also served as the municipal alliance coordinator for Eagleswood, Little Egg Harbor and Tuckerton for the past 14 years.

Pat Muszynski
Manahawkin
Muszynski, a former troop leader and Girl Scout, admits she “doesn’t want to miss a thing and can’t say no.” She has lobbied for cancer research in Washington and worked as an advocate for the American Cancer Society. She is director of Southern Ocean County Hospital’s Wound Care Services and Hyperbaric Medicine and is the hospital’s longest continually employed nurse.
