How You Can Help

Troop Leader/Assistant Leader
Become a troop leader or assistant troop leader and take the opportunity to make a difference. By working directly with girls and meeting on a regular basis, you can help them achieve goals and help build their self-esteem. In the leadership role you will develop organizational and presentation skills, creativity and leadership. A volunteer application, three references and an interview are a required screening process. Upon approval, all troop leaders and assistant troop leaders will attend Leader Training.

Mentor/Advisor
Your profession, hobbie, or skill may be one of interest to a girl. As an adult mentor or advisor for girls you can help them get the most from their Girl Scout experience by sharing your knowledge with them. Volunteering would be periodic and short term.

Trainer/Workshop Presenter
A variety of courses and workshops are offered to girls and adults in Girl Scouts. They could range from leader training to outdoor skills, to girl's badge programs and personal development. You may have presentation skills and an area of interest to share. If you would like to develop public speaking skills, we provide a Train the Trainer course that will help give you the qualifications needed to be a certified trainer.

Driver/Chaperone
Troops often ask parents to drive or chaperone on a troop outing. Take the opportunity to help a troop and spend some quality time with your daughter and her friends. Drivers must have a valid Driver's License and an insured car with proper seat belts. Chaperones must be registered adult Girl Scouts. In both cases, if male, an adult female, not related to the male must be present.

Fund Raiser
Participating on a fundraising committee and taking part in the planning and implementation of an event can be a rewarding experience. Volunteering could be periodic and short term.

Translator
Assist with the translation of telephone calls, trainings, flyers and posters in Spanish. Help Girl Scouts reach out to girls in the Hispanic community.

First Aider
Become American Red Cross certified in First Aid/CPR/AED and provide the safety needed for troop outings and Council programs. We have Red Cross certification classes available. The council is looking for certified American Red Cross instructors to teach First Aid, lifeguard and canoeing.

Board Member
Volunteer to serve on the Board of Directors to set policies for the Council. Meetings and committees would be required.

Camp Staff
Enjoy at least two weeks of your summer in the beautiful Pine Barrens as a Camp Program Aid. Have fun with the girls as you assist in providing a summertime Girl Scout program. An interview and training are required.

Outdoor Skills/Nature Consultant
If you enjoy the outdoors and would like to share your skills with girls and adults, Girl Scouting is a great place to volunteer. We offer courses in camping, backpacking, canoeing, lifeguard and the environment for both girls and adults. Help us educate in the outdoors.

Computer specialties
Computer experience is necessary for consulting, network administration, maintenance, security and data input, or sharing your computer knowledge with girls in a troop. Volunteering would be periodic.

Office Assistance
Come into the council office and make new friends as you assist the staff with general office work. No experience is necessary. Volunteering would be periodic.

Graphic Design/Art
Share your knowledge with girls as they achieve requirements to badges or help design recruitment resources and store displays. A great way to build your resume experiences and introduce girls to the world of art.

Photographer
Capture the images of Girl Scouting on camera for news articles and files. If you have advanced experience in photography, you can teach the art of picture taking to girls and adults. Volunteering would be periodic.

Writer
Help spread the good news about Girl Scouts. Write articles for the newspapers or the council newsletter. Some experience is necessary.

Maintenance Skills
For the seasonal volunteer with no prior experience, helping with general maintenance and clean up of the Council or Camp is the way to go. But if you have professional skills (ex. carpentry, electrician, or plumbing etc.) we have volunteer opportunities available for you too. You can assist with periodic building or camp maintenance or share your skills to help enhance a girl's experience in Girl Scouting.
