Wider Opportunities & Mini Wider Opportunities
Each year the Council sponsors National and International trips called Wider Opportunities, and shorter less expensive trips called mini wider opportunities The large trips are planned at least eighteen to twenty-four months in advance. Depending on the trip they can cost from $2,000 to $5,400. There are several money earning opportunities available to the girls to help them pay for the trip, plus some limited financial assistance.
Setting Goals and Earning Money
Girls are encouraged to expand their entrepreneurial skills by creating a plan to earn money for their travel opportunities. A significant part of that plan includes participation in the Product Sale Advantage (PSA) Program which offer increased money earning opportunities for girls who opt out of other incentives.
The PSA Program is updated every year to reflect the activities planned in the years to come. At the start of each product sale, check the product sale website for information about the specifics for that year's PSA opportunities.
Money earned through the PSA is for a specific trip only and is not transferable to other trips or another girl.
In addition, girls/troops may also conduct money earning activities (e.g. dances, car washes, craft sales, bagging groceries) in addition to product sales. Before plans are made, an application must be submitted to the Senior Director of Program Services for approval. The Council reserves the right to limit the number of money earning opportunities.
