Girls and parents looking for more than just recreation this summer can build leadership skills, confidence and character at Girls are Great day camps run by the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore.

The Girls are Great program brings the joys of Girl Scouting and Girl Scout camp to areas that do not have a large membership base. The purpose of the summer day camp programs in Asbury Park and Lakewood are to provide a safe, fun summer program that will also be an enriching and learning experience. Girls will benefit from an all-girl environment and organized activities which help build self-confidence; all while having fun and building friendships.

Attendees do not need to be Girl Scouts; the camp is open to all girls who wish to have fun and make life-long memories this summer.

Camperships are available to those that qualify.

Girls are Great - Asbury Park

A program is being offered for the second year in Asbury Park.

Girls ages 8 to 11 are welcome at camp.

Activities will self-esteem exercises, learning about other cultures, basic cooking, a community service project and fashion design.

Girls are Great - Long Branch

A program is being offered for the first time in Long Branch.

Girls ages 8 to 11 are welcome at camp.

Girls are Great - Lakewood

Camp will be held for six weeks at the Solomon Schechter Academy in Howell.

Girls in grades one through six are welcome at camp.

A Typical Day at Camp

Themes for the weeks include: winter wonderland, animals and friends near and far. Activities include: science, games, crafts and self esteem exercises.
