It's not just Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore celebrating Girl Scouts' 100th anniversary. This is a national and international event. And many events across the country are open for your participation. The following list contains only a handful of the largest activities. Shaded events are sponsored by the Girl Scout Councils of New Jersey
January 2, 2012 Tournament of Roses ParadeA Girl Scout float decorated by thousands of girls and volunteers will be included in the 2012 Rose Bowl Parade. This event reaches 40 million people in 150 countries on television. The theme of the 2012 parade is "Just Imagine!" and will serve as inspiration for the Girl Scouts' float design. March 12, 2012 Blogger Day: The Call to a New CenturyIn a distinctly modern version of Juliette Gordon Low's historic call that launched the movement, Girl Scouts and a broad-based coalition of likeminded individuals will mark Girl Scouts' 100th anniversary by focusing their messages on issues facing today's girls and by encouraging readers to invest in girls and their futures. April 2012 Advocacy Day: Bringing the Voice of Girls to Capitol HillIn June 2012, council CEOs and one board member from each council will call on each member of congress who serve the council's members. The objective is to further legitimize Girl Scouts as a leader in regard to girls' issues; gain momentum around advocacy for girls' needs and to garner support for the upcoming State of Girls Summit. Centennial Camporee
Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, in partnership with the Georgia Garrison Training Center at Fort Steward, will host a National Camporee. The multi-day event will include skill-building activities for girls with a focus on STEM and team-building exercises.

WAGGS Girls World Forum (Chicago)
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts is celebrating 100 years of changing lives. Young women from around the world will participate in the last of three World Forums. The forum provides an opportunity for Girl Scouts to partner with their WAGGGs sisters to discuss and advance three of the eight UN Millennium Development Goals - eradicate extreme hunger and poverty, promote gender equality and empower women and ensure environmental sustainability.

State of Girls Summit
The Girl Scouts' 100th anniversary year will culminate with the State of Girls Summit, an externally driven Conversation of Consequence. The goal of the summit is to bring focus and a sense of urgency to achieving a generational lead in leadership opportunities for girls.

The Great State Fair of Texas Spectacular Girl Scout Centennial Celebration
The Girl Scouts' Centennial Celebration will run concurrently with the Texas State Fair, the largest and longest running state fair in the country, attracting five million visitors over 24 days. During the fair the featured exhibit will be the Girl Scouts' Centennial Women's Museum. Also, Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana Girl Scout troops will lead the state fair parade every evening. Finally, on the last day of the fair, Girl Scouts will host a jubilant pageant of music, culture, live performances and fireworks at the Cotton Bowl for up to 90,000 leaders, alumnae and supporters from across the country.
