Gold, Silver and Bronze Print Email

The Gold Award Information, the highest award in Girl Scouts, focuses on a 14- to 18-year-old Girl Scout's interests and personal journey through leadership skills, career explorations, self-improvement, and service. The Girl Scout Gold Award was updated in 2004.

The Silver Award Information symbolizes an 11- to 14-year-old Girl Scout's accomplishments in Girl Scouting and community activities as she matures and works to better her life and the lives of others.

The Bronze Award Information recognizes that a Junior Girl Scout has gained the leadership and planning skills required to follow through with a project that makes a positive difference in her community.

Girl Scout Highest Awards

The Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards represent the very best in Girl Scouting. To receive these awards, Girl Scouts must plan and complete a project that benefits their communities. If you take on the challenge to earn the awards you will join other Girl Scouts just like you who have a commitment to make a difference in their communities both locally and globally.

New requirement for the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards were introduced in 2009. The links below will provide you with the guidelines and forms you will need following the new Journey’s based requirement. Girl Scout Senior and Ambassador: The Girl Scout Gold Award

Girl Scout Cadette: The Girl Scout Silver Award

Girl Scout Junior: The Girl Scout Bronze Award

Bronze, Silver, and Gold Award project completion deadlines are as follows:

  • For girls earning their Bronze Awards using the OLD guidelines, their projects must be completed by the September 30 that immediately follows their completion of 6th grade, but no later than September 30, 2011.
  • For girls earning their Bronze Awards using the NEW guidelines, their projects must be completed by the September 30 that immediately follows their completion of 5th grade.
  • For girls earning their Silver Awards using the OLD guidelines, their projects must be completed by the September 30 that immediately follows their completion of 9th grade, but no later than September 30, 2011.
  • For girls earning their Silver Awards using the NEW guidelines, their projects must be completed by the September 30 that immediately follows their completion of 8th grade.
  • For girls earning their Gold Awards, the girl has until September 30 after she graduates from High School to finish her Gold Award project, but no later than September 30, 2011 if using the OLD guidelines.
