Silver Award Information Print Email

The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn. It is symbolic of accomplishments in Girl Scouting and community activities, as you grow and work to better your life and the lives of others.

In 2011, 81 girls earned their Silver Award. Soon, they'll be working toward their Gold.

Have your ever looked around your neighborhood or school and wondered how you could make a change for the better? Going for the Girl Scout Silver Award gives you a chance to show that you are a leader who is organized, determined and dedicated to improving your community. Earning the award puts you among an exceptional group of girls who have used their knowledge and leadership skills to make a difference in the world.

The Girl Scout Silver Award project should benefit your community, which can include your school, Girl Scout council, town or county, or a more global community, and can be earned as an individual or as part of a small group.

Girls complete various activities and develop skills that assist in designing and implementing a Girl Scout Silver Award project. Girls and adults should attend one of the Council Silver Award Information Workshops to get an overview of the award.

It is suggested that girls should wait until the beginning of 7th grade to submit a Silver Award Proposal.

Before you can start a Silver Award Project:
1.    You must submit your completed Proposal form to Council.
2.    Your project will be reviewed by the Silver and Gold Committee. This approval takes approximately three weeks. If the Committee has questions, they will contact you.
3.    You will be given approval via phone or email, and your project can begin.
