Program Overview
Everything that happens during a girl's experience as a Girl Scout is considered part of the Girl Scout program. Single programs for girls often consist of many activities based on age-level progression and include girl/adult partnership during planning and decision-making.
Program can take place on many different levels:
Girl Scout troop/group
- All activities completed as a troop/group including the annual Nut and Cookie sales.
Service Unit (geographical area)
- All events, trips and activities involving additional troops/groups on a local community level.
Council Sponsored
- Events, trips and activities, offered by program level, to all girls within the Council's jurisdiction. Every year, the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore plans and runs activities and trips that serve over 20,000 participants.
- Council events supplement troop programs but are not intended to replace them. Every August troop leaders receive a copy of Shore Things, a program guide for Council-sponsored events, activities and trips. An additioal supplement is distributed in January. The activities and trips listed in Shore Things are a result of input from girls and adults.
GSUSA/Other Councils
- Events and trips sponsored by GSUSA and other Girl Scout Councils across the nation are special opportunities typically open to girls in Grade 7 and up.
- Check out what's new and exciting at Studio 2B, GSUSA's website for older Girl Scouts.
All Girl Scout programs use the Girl Scout Promise and Law as a guide to ensure each girl has a well-rounded Girl Scout experience.
