Changing Levels |
|
|
When girls bridge from one program level to another, many leaders also” change levels” or “move to” the next level. This course is designed to help an experienced leader make a comfortable transition to the next level of Girl Scouting.
Are there prerequisites?
A candidate wishing to attend Changing Levels must have completed level training for the previous level. Example: in order to take Changing Levels, Brownie to Junior, a registered adult must have completed New Leader Orientation and New Leader Brownie Girl Scout Training.
What to bring?
|
Bring your Safety-Wise, Confirmation of registration, a leader's guide and handbook for the appropriate level, a few sheets of paper.
What will I learn?
Leaders will find out what awards, what troop activities are available at the new level, and will make a leader comfortable with the characteristics of girls at the level with which the leader has chosen to work. The leader will be able to identify physical, mental, and social characteristics of the age level of girls and identify and use the form of troop/group government that is appropriate at the new age level.
The leader will also learn how to give girls an appropriate amount of decision-making opportunities and how to use the best resources that a troop/group leader has, the Girl Scout Handbook and other GSUSA and council resources. The troop/group leader will be able to identify specific age appropriate policies, standards of health and safety and troop/group management skills for the next age level.
